Setting up the iPhone to Sync with Exchange via ActiveSync (Cortex)

It is assumed that your iPhone is running software version 2.1 or later prior to your going forward with these steps.  If your iPhone is not running version 2.1 or later of the software, you will need to update the device via iTunes prior to proceeding.

Gathering Information:

  1. Log into https://admin.myhostedexchange.com with your username (generally your email address) and password.

  2. Click on the Configuration Summary icon.

  3. Take note of the information for Account ID, Domain, and Exchange Server from the Windows Mobile 5 Device and Pocket PC 2003 Settings  section.

To Configure Your iPhone

  1. From the device's main screen, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange.

  2. Email address:  Enter your Hosted Exchange email address, for example: lanlogictest@testorg.com.

  3. Username: the username you found during "gathering information" at the beginning of this article.

  4. Domain:  type in HOSTEDEXCHANGE

  5. Password:  Type in your password

  6. Tap next.

  7. The device will fail stating that your mail server certificate is incorrect, tap Accept.

  8. Enter your server name (found during "gathering information at the beginning of this article).

  9. Tap next.

  10. The device will verify the server.

  11. Enable contacts and calendar (off by default, activate as you wish).

  12. Save the settings.

  13. The device will say that existing contacts will be removed from your iPhone and you will have the option to Sync or Cancel.  Tap Sync.  If you cancel it will not sync at all.

By default the iPhone will only sync the last 3 days' worth of mail.  To sync older messages do the following:

  1. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar

  2. Tap on the Exchange account

  3. Tap on "Mail days to sync" and select from "No Limit" to "1 Month."  "No Limit" will sync all messages in your mailbox.
