iPhone Settings for Connecting to Exchange via IMAP (Cortex)

Collect information

Log into https://admin.myhostedexchange.com with your username (generally your email address) and password.
Click on the Configuration Summary icon.
Take note of the OWA URL and UserName information.

How to set up IMAP settings on iPhone

From the main screen, go into Settings.
Select Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Select Add Account.
Select Other.
Select Add Mail Account.
Enter your name, email address, and email password and Select Save.
Enter your server name (the OWA URL collected above, minus the https://), username (email address), and password for both incoming and outgoing* mail servers. Select Save.

*NOTE: If you are using Exchange 2003 the server settings for Incoming and Outgoing will be the same.
If you are using Exchange 2007, incoming is mail.myhostedexchange.com and Outgoing is ht1.myhostedexchange.com. You will use your email address and password as the username and password for both servers.
Exchange 2007 users will get a prompt that a Secure connection to ht1.myhostedexchange.com failed. This is OK. Click on Continue
The configuration process will complete and your iPhone will be ready for use.
Go into Mail and you should now be connected to your mailbox.

How to Add a User to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (Admins Only) (Cortex)

Note: You must have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server Data Plan with your wireless provider to have the ability to activate your device.

Log into http://admin.myhostedexchange.com with your OrgAdmin username and password that was provided with your welcome message.
Mouse over the Users icon and select Users from the drop down list.
Expand the services for the user you want to edit by selecting the expand arrows to the right of their name.
In the User Functions pane, click on Services.
In the User Services section, expand the BlackBerry services by clicking on the expand arrows to the right of the service.
In the BlackBerry Configuration screen, leave the IT Policy as Default and leave the Handheld PIN field blank, this will be sent to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server on activation.
In the Activation Password and Confirm Activation Password field enter a password of your choice. This is the password you will need to type on your device during the activation.
In the Password Expiry Time field, enter a time limit that works for your user.
Click on Provision.
You are now able to activate your BlackBerry Device

Shared Exchange 2007: How to resolve the Outlook or Entourage "Error 0X8004010F – Not downloading Offline address book files"

*This article applies to customers on Shared Hosted Exchange 2007. It does not apply if you are an Exchange 2003 customer.

If you are experiencing this error message when using Outlook 2003/2007 or Entourage 2004/2008, please do the following to resolve it.

Create your autodiscover CNAME

Contact your current DNS host and create the following CNAME record for your domain. Name the CNAME record autodiscover.yourdomainname.com where “yourdomainname.com” should be your current domain name. For example if creating a CNAME record for the domain name tempdomain.com, the record would be named autodiscover.tempdomain.com. Point this CNAME record to autodiscoverredirect.myhostedexchange.com. ( Please allow up to 72 hours for DNS records to propagate)

Outlook Users

Once the CNAME record has propagated please do the following:

Close Outlook.
Go to Start>Run.
In the run box, type in “outlook.exe /resetfolders” – without quotations.

Outlook will then resync with the server and the error message will no longer generate

Entourage Users

Once the CNAME record has replicated please do the following:

Control+Click on the parent folder of your exchange mailbox.
Select Properties
The "Folder Properties" window will pop up
Under the General tab you will select "Empty Cache"
A window will popup saying “Emptying the cache will remove and re-download all items within this account. Unsynched changes, links, projects, categories, and action indicators for messages will be lost. Are you sure you want to do this?”. This means that anything on the machine that is not on the server will be lost. If you can back any of this up, now is the time to do that. Once you are sure you are safe, click "Empty Cache" and you should see items in your mailbox re-syncing with the server.

Open Another Person's Mailbox in Outlook

Before you can access another person's mailbox data, they will have to grant permissions to you. Please refer to the article: HOWTO: Granting Send-As or Send-On-Behalf Permissions . You will need to grant Full Mailbox Access in order to open the users mailbox in Outlook.

For Outlook 2007

1. On the Tools menu, point to Account Settings.
2. In Account Settings, double click on the account that says (Exchange (send fro this account by default) under Type.
3. Click on More Settings..
4. Click on the Advanced Tab.
5. In the "Open these additional mailboxes:" area, select Add..
6. Type in the user's First and Last name and click OK.
7. Click OK again.
8. Click Next and Finish.

You should now see the mailbox listed in your Folder List.

For Outlook 2003

1. On the Tools menu, point to Email Settings.
2. Select View or Change Existing Email Accounts, click Next.
3. Highlight your Microsoft Exchange Server and select Change.
4. Click on More Settings..
5. Click on the Advanced Tab.
6. In the "Open these additional mailboxes:" area, select Add..
7. Type in the users' First and Last name and click OK.
8. click OK again.
9. Click Next and Finish.

You should now see the mailbox listed in your Folder List.

Set up a VPN connection with Windows Vista

How to set up your VPN connection to the Lanlogic Hosted Exchange network

Note: If this is your first time setting up a VPN connection for your account, please contact Lanlogic Support and request that we add VPN permissions for your account. We will just need the email address for your account.

1. Click on Start, Control Panel, then Network and Sharing Center.

2. On the left hand side under Tasks, click on Set up a connection or network.

3. This will launch the Set up a connection or network wizard.

4. Select Connect to a work place as shown below, click next. **

5. Click on No, create a new connection, then select next.

6. Select Use my Internet Connection (VPN), click next.

7. In the Internet Address field, type in vpn.myhostedexchange.com. In the destination name field, name the connection for example, “Hosted Exchange VPN”.

8. Type in your Lanlogic provided email address and password in the appropriate fields. If you are unclear as to what email address and password to use, please contact support@lanlogic.com. Click on save the connection.

To make sure that all of your internet traffic doesn’t go through the Hosted Exchange network you’ll want to do the following after you set up the VPN connection.

1. Click on the properties of the VPN connection and click on the Networking tab. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and then click on Properties.

2. Click on the Advanced button

3. Uncheck the box that says Use default gateway on remote network.

Log into Outlook Web Access

Note: We recommend accessing Outlook Web Access through Internet Explorer. You may not be able to use all the fuctionality of OWA with other browsers such as Firefox.

Open Internet Explorer
Go to https://servername.myhostedexchange.com (for example: https://ex14.myhostedexchange.com if you are on the EX14 server). If you are an Exchange 2007 customer, your OWA login will be at https://mail.myhostedexchange.com.
Log in with your email address and password

Create a VPN connection with Windows XP

How to set up your VPN connection to the Lanlogic Hosted Exchange network

If you have Outlook 2003 and XP SP2, you do not need to use a VPN connection to connect to your Exchange Server. You can configure Outlook to connect using RPC over HTTP. Please see related article for more information.

If you are a Hosted Exchange customer, we can provide you with a free copy of Outlook 2003. Just send us an email with your name, and the domain we are hosting for you, and we'll send you instructions to download it.

Click on Start > Settings > Network Connections and select New Connection Wizard.
Click Next on the Connection Wizard
Select “Connect to the network at my workplace” and click Next
Select “Virtual Private Network connection” and click Next
Type in a name you would like to call this connection, for example, “Lanlogic VPN” and click Next
If prompted, select “do not dial the initial connection” and click Next
Type in the VPN server name "vpn.myhostedexchange.com” without quotes in the "Host name" field and click Next
Select “My use only” unless you have multiple accounts on your computer that will need access to this connection. Click Next
Click on Finish
Type in your Lanlogic-provided email address and password in the appropriate fields. If you are unclear as to what email address and password to use, please contact support@lanlogic.com

Open a Shared Calendar using Outlook Web Access for Exchange 2003

Open a Shared Calendar using Outlook Web Access (OWA) for Exchange 2003 (Please note that this option is not available in Exchange 2007)

If someone has shared their calendar with you, you can access it via Outlook Web Access.

1. Log into Outlook Web Access

2. Once your mailbox is open, go to the address bar in Internet Explorer and add

/username@domain.ext/calendar

to the end of the line.

As an example, Amy@mymail.com has given permissions to her calendar to Alexander@mymail.com.
Alexander logs into OWA and gets to his home screen. His address bar will show something like:

https://ex14.myhostedexchange.com/exchange

To view Amy's calendar, he would change the address bar to read

https://ex14.myhostedexchange.com/exchange/amy@mymail.com/calendar

To return to his mailbox, he would simply remove the amy@mymail.com/calendar from the address bar and hit enter.

Note: This article also applies to shared contacts and inbox. The difference is that instead of /calendar, you would type in /contacts or /inbox, depending on what you want to access.
