BGP Routing for T1: A backup connectivity solution
Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is
the routing protocol used to exchange routing information
across the Internet. BGP is an exterior routing protocol
and as such is concerned with routing between networks
rather than within them
As your business becomes more dependent
on your current Internet connection, even a brief interruption
can be costly. For T1 clients, it is possible to subscribe
to an alternate T1 carrier and use BGP routing to allow
all of your traffic to automatically transfer to the
surviving connection in the event of a connectivity
failure. BGP routing enables your business to connect
to two Internet providers so that routing is determined
between the providers based on the distance to the destination
of your Internet traffic. Lanlogic supports both full
and partial routes.
Lanlogic also offers analog and
ISDN dial backup services
as a less expensive backup connectivity solution. With
the appropriate hardware, dial backup can be configured
to automatically connect into our dialup network upon
a connectivity failure.
