From one of our fellow engineers here at Lanlogic says that if you are having any issues with your iPhone connecting to an outgoing mail server, enter cwmx.com for the outgoing mail server with no name or password and no SSL. This is an open relay from att and seems to work very well. One thing to be aware of when using this though - it IS open relay meaning if one person starts to abuse this server with SPAM they may turn it off periodically until they cleared the problem up!
