We had a customer who was having a heck of a time with his BlackBerry 8800 not syncing Contacts. We'd tried resending Service Books a number of times to no avail. After a conference call with RIM Support (thanks Justin!) we finally determined what was going on:
RIM had the user remove two Service Books from his device, the CMIME and Desktop Sync Service Books. We resent the Service Books via the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) and within 60 seconds the user's Contacts were syncing again!
This should do the trick for any BlackBerry device that is having issues, not just the 8800.
